Galway artist Niamh Regan has long been lauded as one of Ireland’s most promising folk talents. The Irish Times described her teenage demos as “bursting with potential” and at seventeen this precocious folksinger won a Paul Brady Blás scholarship to study flute and guitar in the University of Limerick. After completing a degree in music, Niamh released her debut solo EP Tried To in 2017 and follow up single ‘What To Do’ in 2018 earning widespread praise. She recently released her debut album Hemet which was recently shortlisted for the RTE Choice Music Prize – Album of the Year 2020. The album has been described as an album full of musical accomplishment, emotional maturity, and subtle craft. In this podcast, Niamh talks to us about her journey to date, her creative process and what inspires her song writing.
